Welcome to the website of MCM Dordogne Property !

We're Dordogne estate agents in Ribérac, specialising in Dordogne property for sale, particularly Dordogne houses for sale in Ribérac and the surrounding area, which extends over the border into the nearby Charente.  Dordogne houses for sale, as well as Charente houses for sale, in the Ribérac area, come in all sizes, from châteaux, through manoirs and farms, to villas and small cottages.  Although we keep an eye on Dordogne property and Charente property generally, our Ribérac base means that our estate agency specialises in property for sale across to Charente's Aubeterre in the west, the Dordogne's Verteillac and Mareuil in the north, Mensignac and Périgueux in the east, and Mussidan and Bergerac to the south.  Look at our section headed "About the Region" to find out more about the different areas.

This page explains the essence of what we're about.  Browse at your leisure and see what we can offer.  We think we're offering something a bit different, and hope you'll agree.  We strongly believe that the Dordogne, and the neighbouring area of the southern Charente, are one of the best parts of France to live in or in which to have a holiday home, so don't be surprised if we're passionate about what we're doing!

Dordogne and Charente properties for sale are our speciality.  Give us your feedback so that we can help you more!

Price reductions!

Real estate in the Dordogne and Charente regions of France has not been immune from the general decline in the property market - which has affected France generally, although possibly not to the extent of the UK.  Have a look for example at our little hideaway in a riverside village, now a snip at 59,000 euros, or the wonderfully historic Double house, going back to medieval times, for 399,000 euros.

December, and the end of the year approaches...

After a month of November dominated by rain and damp, December has dawned with a cloudless sky (even if unsettled weather is forecast).  The Christmas decorations are going up in the towns and villages, and preparations begin for "les fêtes".  People have other things on their mind than a property in the Dordogne, but it's a good time to see what's around.  Prices have been tumbling as the market has slumped and the pound fails to strengthen materially against the euro.  This means that opportunities abound for purchasers...  Just have a look at our properties for sale and see what you can get for your money...

Why not buy in sterling?

Nervousness about exchange rates can be overcome by arranging a purchase in sterling.  This will only arise where the seller is repatriating funds into sterling in any event, but this may often be the case.  Euro payments will be needed for the notarial fees, agent's commission and any capital gains tax liability.  But there is no reason why the balance cannot be paid in sterling.  Contact us for further details.

New opportunities to buy your Dordogne house - New Instructions

We've a number of attractive places that have come onto the books recently.  A holiday house with shared pool is a snip at €115,500.  Also good value, to our mind, is a unique modern house near Verteillac for €241,500.  Or try something more spacious, a quirky house with river frontage near Bourdeilles.  Or a timbered cottage in the Double forest, with a couple of gites, at €378,000.  A modern house in an idyllic location can be yours for €260,000, or an immaculately converted barn for €225,750.  And finally, a house that was withdrawn from the market a year ago and has now come back on at a vastly reduced price - it's the town house that attracted a lot of attention because of its location in the centre of Ribérac but with the feel of the country.

Something for everyone - just turn to the properties for sale.

MCM - Why we're special

We like to think that we're Dordogne estate agents with something different.  Gone are the times when visitors to the region, looking at Dordogne houses for sale, strolled into an estate agent's office on a rainy afternoon and bought a tumbledown ruin as an idle whim.  Prices have risen, and buyers may have to obtain finance for what may be a substantial commitment.  In addition, more people are considering lifestyle changes and need to be aware of what's in store.

So it's not good enough for an agent just to have the gift of the gab.  Buyers need experience and guidance.  Our agency is run by Paul McQuillan, who has extensive experience as an estate agent in central London before moving to Ribérac, and Antony Mair, who was a solicitor in the City of London.  We have a unique combination of professional experience and knowledge to offer.

What others say about us...

We've been overwhelmed by clients' comments.  Here are some:

"Many thanks.  Way beyond the call of duty!"

"Your endless support and guidance were outstanding.  It made all the difference to be able to leave you to sort everything out on our behalf and conquer the French system!"

"Thank you so much.  It was so clever of you to find the perfect house for us!"

"Thanks for all your help in finding us our French dream!"

Where we are

Ribérac's a pleasant market town in the Dordogne, located 56 km (about an hour's drive) north from Bergerac airport and 121 km east from Bordeaux's Mérignac airport.  Angoulême, capital of the Charente, and its railway station for the TGV is 54 km to the north.  Périgueux, capital of the Dordogne, is 37 km to the east.

Flights from the UK and Ireland come into Bordeaux (British Airways, Aer Lingus and Easyjet).  UK flights also come in to Bergerac, via Ryanair.  If you prefer the train, you can take the Eurostar and change either in Lille or Paris to come down to Angoulême, where you can pick up a hire car.   Cars can also be hired from the airports in Bordeaux and Bergerac.

If you're coming to the north of the department, it's worth checking out flights via Ryanair to Limoges.
